Dr. Deron Sharpe is a Pediatric Neurologist licensed by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners and certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Dr. Sharpe received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Missouri School of Medicine, Columbia, Missouri and completed his Pediatric Residency Program at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Following his Pediatric Residency, Dr. Sharpe completed a three-year Child Neurology Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center followed by a Neuromuscular Neurology Fellowship also at Vanderbilt.
Upon completion of his Pediatric Neuromuscular Neurology Fellowship, Dr. Sharpe joined the Vanderbilt University Medical Center as a Clinical Instructor and Assistant Professor and devoted the next eight years in private practice treating pediatric patients at Pediatric Neuromuscular Clinic in Franklin, Tennessee.
In January 2015, Dothan Pediatric Healthcare Network welcomed Dr. Sharpe as a physician at Dothan Pediatric Subspecialty Clinic. Dr. Sharpe’s clinical interests include the management of tone modifying therapies for cerebral palsy and the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, myotonias, spinal cerebellar ataxias, and periodic paralyses.
