Deron V. Sharpe, MD

Pediatric Neurology

    Subspecialist Bio

    Dr. Deron V. Sharpe was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in bio-chemistry, 1994. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia School of Medicine, 1998.

    Dr. Sharpe completed a Pediatric Residency program at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri in June 2000. Afterward, he completed a three-year Child Neurology Residency program at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee followed by a Neuromuscular Neurology Fellowship also at Vanderbilt.

    Dr. Sharpe is certified in child neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He joined Dothan Pediatric Healthcare Network specializing in Child Neurology at Dothan Pediatric Subspecialty Clinic in January 2015.

    His clinical interests include: the management of tone modifying therapies for cerebral palsy and the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular disorders such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, myotonias, spinal cerebellar ataxias, and periodic paralysis.

    Dr. Sharpe resides in Dothan with his wife and three children. He enjoys fitness, softball, home improvement, and gardening.

 

David J. Lozano, MD

Pediatric Pulmonology

    Dr. David J. Lozano was born in Austin, Texas. He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Incarnate Word College where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, 1993. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas, Medical Branch, 1998.

    Dr. Lozano completed a Pediatric Residency program at the University of Florida, Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in June 2001. Afterward, he completed a three-year Pediatric Pulmonology Fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Children’s of Alabama, Birmingham.

    Dr. Lozano is certified in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and is certified in pediatric pulmonology by the Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine Board of the American Board of Pediatrics. He is also certified by the Sleep Medicine Board of the American Board of Pediatrics.

    He joined Dothan Pediatric Healthcare Network specializing in pediatric pulmonology at Dothan Pediatric Healthcare Network Subspecialty Clinic in January, 2018 after practicing for 15 years at Children's Hospital in Alabama.

    Dr. Lozano is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Alabama Chapter; the American Thoracic Society, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

    His clinical interests include: Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (BPD), sleep medicine, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy, technology-dependent patients/pediatric home ventilation, and asthma.

    Dr. Lozano resides in Dothan and in his spare time he enjoys playing golf, competing in triathlons, traveling, and the beach.

 

Sesi Dosunmu-Ogunbi, MD

Pediatric Gastroenterology

    Subspecialist Bio

    Dr. Ogunbi was born in Ibadan, Nigeria. She earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Lagos, College of Medicine, Lagos, Nigeria, in 1986. She moved to Montgomery, Alabama in 1997. Dr. Ogunbi completed a Pediatric Internship at the University of South Alabama, Mobile, and a Fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology/Nutrition at Emory University, Atlanta.

    She is certified in general pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics and certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology. She provides monthly pediatric gastroenterology patient care at Dothan Pediatric Clinic (since 2006). She is a member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (NASPGHAN). She serves on the current Board of Directors for the International Committee of NASPGHAN. Dr. Ogunbi is a member of the Alabama Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

    She was honored as a Woman Who Provides Exceptional Community Service: Health and Human Services by the Montgomery Chapter of The Links, Incorporated (2012). Dr. Ogunbi also serves as Chair of Pediatrics at Baptist South Hospital, Montgomery (2013-2014); Vice Chair (2011-2012). She enjoys antique shopping and spending time with her family.

 

David A. Rogers, MD

Pediatric Surgery

    Subspecialist Bio

    Dr. David A. Rogers is a professor in the Departments of Surgery, Medical Education and Pediatrics and the Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development in the School of Medicine at UAB. He received his medical degree from the University of South Florida and completed his general surgery training at the Medical College of Georgia. He subsequently completed his pediatric general surgery training at the University of Tennessee and a pediatric surgery oncology fellowship at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He received a Master of Health Professions Education degree (MHPE) from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has also completed the Surgical Education Research Fellowship program sponsored by the Association for Surgical Education. Dr. Rogers has an ongoing educational research program focused on the role of education in improving surgeon conflict management in the operating room.

    Outside of his research and clinical activities, Dr. Rogers has served in a number of educational administrative roles and is currently the Course Chair of the American College of Surgeon’s Resident as Teachers and Leaders course. A recipient of numerous department and institutional teaching awards, Dr. Rogers is a 2012 recipient of an Association for Surgical Education Distinguished Educator Award.

    Dr. Rogers began coming to Dothan Pediatric Subspecialty Clinic in 2017 and seeing patients for follow-up care.

    He is married to Laura Rogers, MD, MPH, an internist with a National Institutes of Health-funded program of research focused on exercise in oncology patients. They have two adult sons, Andrew and Charles.

 

Camden L. Hebson, MD

Pediatric Cardiology

    Dr. Hebson is a Pediatric Cardiologist from UAB. He sees patients each week at Dothan Pediatric Subspecialty Clinic for Congenital Heart Disease, Arrhythmia Syndromes, Chest Pain, Dyspnea and Exercise Intolerance, Syncope and Pre-syncope, Palpitations, Heart Murmurs, and Cardiac Disease.
